The Ice Breaker Regatta

The origin of the Ice Breaker Regatta on Cold Lake is shrouded in sailing lore.

It is said that during the last cataclysmic event sailors came onto the land and learned from the land people about animals. And during the long winter nights of cold the animals talked to the sailors. They told the sailors that the ice would leave and the summer winds would return, and so the sailors waited. And, as they had been told, the ice did melt and fair winds did return and the sailors did once more move on the breath of Yansa. The sailors did name this first gathering a regatta, and this is the origin of the Ice Breaker Regatta at Cold Lake. It is the annual spring event, the first regatta of the year. It challenges all Cold Lake sailors to rejuvenate their skills and shed all traces of winter dry dock.
